Two weeks and counting....

Less than two weeks until departure. Getting supplies together and developing plans for my classes while I'm gone.

My classes are working hard on Rocks and Minerals, Weather and Climate as well as Ocean Ecosystems.

Mineral Lab

Observing Geodes

Investigating Minerals

Even Minerals That Can Float!

We had a great trip to the Henderson County Mineral and Lapidary Museum and have enjoyed learning about the rich mineral diversity found in western North Carolina including Henderson County's own Jones Mine in Zirconia.

This quarter I'm offering a course on biodiversity based on the Planet Earth and Life DVD series where we are learning about biomes, biodiversity, adaptations, and survival with special emphasis on Rain Forest ecology.

It is going to be a busy two weeks. This week the entire middle school is off to the Flat Rock Playhouse to see Peter Pan, and next week our school-wide Science Fair takes place.
